Hobnail Glass is created by putting bumps of glass in a pattern all over the outside of the glass object.  It was especially popular with milk glass items.  I suspect that is because milk glass gets boring quickly and hobnails would be an easy way to provide some variety.

Fenton Glass company produced a lot of milk glass and many of the pieces were the hobnail variety.  In fact, most glass manufacturers produced milk glass at some point, and I'm sure at least some of it was hobnail.

According to search statistics, there are about 8,100 searches for hobnail glass each month.  Hobnail Milk Glass picks up another 3,600, and Fenton Hobnail Glass gets 2,400 more.
